🎧BJHH: 136 - Springer Surge!
PLUS: Prospect talk, Yariel RodrÃguez, Kevin Gausman, Alek Manoah, Nate Pearson, the future of the Jays' rotation, and a whole lot more.
At the conclusion of play in June 24th, George Springer was the third-worst qualified hitter in baseball by wRC+, sidding with a mark of just 65 through nearly 300 plate appearances. Fast forward two gargantuan weeks and there are now 36 (of 140) hitters beind him. His wRC+ has rocketed up to 94, thanks to 13 games producing at a 282 clip, in which he's smashed five home runs and given Blue Jays fans—and, presumably, some coaches and executives too—renewed hope that the final two-and-a-half seasons of the six-year, $150 million contract he signed back in 2021 won't be a complete albatross.
Nick wrote about it today for Sportsnet, and on this week's episode we talk all about Springer's place on this team. Plus: Prospect talk, Yariel RodrÃguez, Kevin Gausman, Alek Manoah, Nate Pearson, the future of the Jays' rotation, and a whole lot more.
