🎧BJHH: 168 - Heads Above Water
The Jays are hanging around, and that's just about all we could ask of them...
Your paid support makes independent, thoughtful, grass-fed, naturally raised, free range coverage of Toronto Blue Jays baseball possible. Thank you.
The Blue Jays couldn’t afford to dig themselves an early hole this season, and they've managed to avoid doing exactly that. Chris Bassitt, Jeff Hoffman, and Yimi GarcÃa pitching like the best starter, closer, and setup man in baseball will certainly help in that regard. But whether their success will prove durable—whether enough offence will come, whether the rotation will hold, and whether the bullpen can continue to live up to an impossibly high standard while being relied-upon heavily—remains to seen.
This week we check the vibes and talk all about it. PLUS: Putting an over/under on Max Scherzer’s innings pitched, figuring out the roster once Nathan Lukes and Daulton Varsho return (a conversation we had before Davis Schneider was optioned down to Buffalo), check-ins on Barger, Wagner, Clement, and more!

*(An unedited transcript that is, which… if you check it out I think you’ll immediately see exactly why I’m choosing not to deal with cleaning up that mess. But I think it’s legible enough that you’ll get the gist, should for some reason you want it.)
