Your paid support makes independent, thoughtful, grass-fed, naturally raised, free-range coverage of Toronto Blue Jays baseball possible. Thank you.
The Blue Jays are headed out of the All-Star Break and toward the trade deadline in first place in the American League East. They're incredibly well-positioned to hit the gas pedal and strengthen their roster before the end of the month—and that’s without even talking about some big names due to return from injury—even if we maybe don't quite fully understand how, exactly, any of this has happened.
This week we take a look at everything that’s brought us here, where we expect to see regression, which trends seem most durable, and set things up for what could be the most exciting home stretch the club has had in years!
Have a listen by finding Blue Jays Happy Hour on your podcast app of choice—like Apple, Spotify, etc.—or, if you’d rather listen to an ad-free version of the show, you can find us at patreon.com/BJHH, where for just $6 (CAD) a month you’ll get every show ad free, plus a bonus episode each week.
And here’s a brief preview of this week’s bonus episode, available exclusively via our Patreon. This week we take a look at the current Blue Jays roster—and, it turns out, farm system—and discuss which players, aside from Vladimir Guerrero Jr., have the best shot at one day ascending to the Level of Excellence.
Not sure we’ll always provide these, nor do I think they’ll always come out the same day as the main show, but we’re trying it this way for now. Please check out my explainer for the move to Patreon if you have any questions!
