Don't know why, but this team just crushes my psyche. Probably the let down from losing the World Series bleeding into this year, had they won, I'd still be on that high. I just don't see a team with good enough defense, hitting, or pitching to really do much of anything this year. They are playing like the 5th place team they currently are. Need to lean into a short term sell like they did back in 2024. It's time to move on to 2027. Football camps open in a few weeks; sporting relief is on its way.
RIP Duane Ward. This is far more upsetting to me than the Jays current predicament. Google the man, he was a man of the people. Down to earth, loved by everyone, a true Blue Jay. Nothing but good stories out there on this guy....we'll miss you Duane-o.
RIP Duane Ward. I found this very upsetting. So young (and I'm 61 which is confronting). I distinctly remember him struggling when he first pitched for us, but then he became so dominant. Henke wasn't the lights out closer in 1992 as he was in previous years and it was sometimes a nervous ride. But Ward was insanely good and showed it again in 93. He was awesome. It was such a huge blow when he got injured in 94.

So wait, it's not still early? 😭
We're getting to be around nearby the point where we can no longer reasonably say it's early.
I'm afraid we're around nearby the point where we can no longer reasonably say we have a chance. And it sucks.
FanGraphs puts their playoff odds at 15%, which is higher than where the Red Sox and Orioles were earlier this month.
We optimists gotta keep hoping... until it crushes our souls.
15% is quite famously significantly more than 0%
Now you're mathing!
