Submit your questions for my next mail bag!
(And hear my appearance on the latest episode of Tall Can Audio!)
Your paid support makes independent, thoughtful, grass-fed, naturally raised, free-range coverage of Toronto Blue Jays baseball possible. Thank you.
Did I say Friday? I meant that this week we’ll be doing a mail bag on Sunday night/Monday morning. Obviously!
Thank you so much to everybody who took the time to submit Qs when I slipped in an informal request for them in my previous couple of posts, but it is now time for the formal request.
The Jays are beyond the halfway point, beyond the draft, beyond the All-Star Break, and steaming toward a midweek series next week that apparently the Yankees are taking incredibly seriously (LOL)…
…and, of course, the trade deadline, all while sitting in first place in the American League East. Their roster isn’t perfect, but the one thing that can’t regress is the number of wins they’ve already banked. And with this year’s turnaround down on the farm, there are pieces to be moved that could allow the team to take advantage of this rare opportunity without even destroying the system.
These are exciting, exciting times, in other words. Even if it maybe doesn’t quite feel real yet.
And with that as the improbable backdrop, it’s time to talk about all of it by cracking open the ol’ mail bag and throwing things things over to all of you. (Or, at least, to those of you who have been generous enough to become paid subscribers to the site. Because, as always, mail bag questions are open only to paid subscribers.)
So leave me your best thoughts and questions about any and all things Jays in the comments on this post!
Meanwhile, if you’d like a sneak preview of some of my thoughts on the above subjects—except for the Jays’ draft class, which I know next to nothing about, and the All-Star Week festivities, which I have next to no interest in—check out my recent chat with my pal Matt Robinson on the latest episode of Tall Can Audio!
You can do so in any number of ways, including at his site, or at all the usual podcasts sites, like Spotify…
…as well as Apple Podcasts, etc.
And give Matt a follow on Twitter or on Bluesky while you’re at it!

Sorry, need to vent here so not a real question. How can Sportsnet be so dumb to mistakenly post a picture of MIke Flanagan during their tribute to Jim Clancy before the first game against the Giants? Clancy was a franchise stalwart who deserved better. Embarassing and shameful. How hard is it to get that right? I haven't seen an apology - I hope there was one.
Hey Andrew. Finally paid up to make sure you get the $ you deserve… and to ask you this question: It seems pretty clear Bo is keen to test free agency, and who could blame him? But given the fact the Jays finally seem competitive, and he seems happy, and the team has a lot of money coming off the books soon… what odds would you give to Bo’s next contract being with Toronto?
