Our starting pitching depth is our achilles heel. It was hidden for most of this year because our starting rotation was pretty healthy (and good) for the most part. But yikes....if a few of those starters had sputtered or got hurt, we would have been in trouble. Moving forward the starting pitching is going to dictate just how far we go during our 'competitive window'.

I'm a little confused though when you and others continually describe Berrios' contract situation in terms that make it seem as if an extension is almost an inevitability. I mean, he's going to be a free agent right? What makes him any different from anyone else out there wanting to test the waters? Has he or his agent indicated publicly that an extension is their preference? Love the podcast too!
