Three up, three down? No, just six up on a blast of a game that saw the Blue Jays lay waste to the Rays at the start of a big three-game set, and remain ahead of the pack in the AL wild card race!
It is so grand to see the whole team playing in synch for really the first time this season. All season the potential for this was there and we never seemed to completely put it together. Lost in the excellent batting throughout the lineup and spectacular starts is also the fact that the bullpen hasn't been a liability lately. They've actually been 7th in the AL in ERA for September, 4th in BABIP, and issued the lowest number of walks (per fangraphs). Those long quality starts helped of course, but the bullpen has certainly been much improved.
This 'shhhh!' thing that Vladdy has had going on all season long when he homers. Have we ever found out what the secret he is hushing is? (If so, let me know, I missed hearing it.)
"He wanted to do that because he wanted the critics to be quiet and let him play,” says Rivera. “It’s something that is very personal and I respect that.”
Sorry to comment again, but it's fun. I don't know why more people don't do it. Re-reading this again just to relish it, there was so much amazing stuff happening in this game. And it's such a remarkable run we're on. Let's all soak this in because there's been precious little meaningful baseball in September for us. I don't count last year, but what have we had? 2015 and 2016 and before then? 1993? This is special.
What's amazing is that everyone is contributing (batter wise). But the key to getting us to a wildcard and hopefully beyond will still come down to our pitching.
As a Toronto expat in Sydney I've got no-one to talk to about the Jays. Even the Canadians I know here don't care. I was hoping my Australian born daughters would pick up the bug...but nah. Comment sections are my outlet!
Bluejay fans are thin on the ground here in Sweden, too. Annoyingly, you can buy clothes with the NYY logo in pretty much any store. No other baseball branded gear is available. Which means that most of the people wearing such things around here are not Yankee fans. 'Ha ha ha -- we swept you last week!' isn't nearly as much fun when met with utter incomprehension. 'I just bought it because it looks cool,' I was told. 'I had no idea it was about baseball.' This happened twice this week.

It really is! FINALLY! Hahaha. Really has made all the frustration of the season worth it.

I'm pretty sure that's out there, but I forget what it was. Something fairly innocuous. I'll try to look it up!

It's been so ridiculously fun! And please, by all means, the more comments the merrier!

That was a joy to watch. I wonder if someone wrote on the clubhouse whiteboard 'Fuck Tampa' in big letters.
