Great stuff! It's possible that the Springer aging question may have been referring to Dan Szymborski's write-up of the signing on Fangraphs. He makes the point that Springer's defensive value isn't very speed-dependent which should help him hold on to his defensive abilities as he ages better than most.
I wonder whether one of the complicating factors for Walker and Odorizzi is that they are both repped by Excel SM. I'm not suggesting that Excel wouldn't do its best to keep the interests of each separate and paramount, but it strikes me that it would be difficult not to think that either one of them signing a one-year deal prejudices the other and that neither or them, unlike Paxton, so far has. Despite Walker reportedly looking for a multi-year deal at 10+ per, I have difficulty seeing him get 10 AAV and great difficulty seeing him get more than 1 year. It does have the appearance that he is holding out, or being held out, until Odorizzi signs. Speaking of which, I suspect Odorizzi would have got more last year from the Jays despite the QO than he'll get anywhere this year without it.
Interesting points. Yeah, that definitely could complicate things. And I think you're probably right about Odorizzi probably ending up leaving money on the table. It seems like the Jays are more on Walker, but he really interests me — looked more like a real number 2 in 2019 than Walker has, you just have to overlook a truly awful 2020 to believe it might still be there.

Great write-up. That Pierre McGuire joke got me. I remember Pierre once described a young player as having "a potpourri of skills." Is that good?
Best writer on the Jays beat, in my opinion.
