Do you ever get the feeling there's something going on that you don't know about? That's how I feel about Vlad and the Jays. It doesn't make sense to me why it's seemingly so difficult to get an extension sorted out and I can't help thinking that perhaps: a) the team doesn't want too; and b) Vlad doesn't want to. Something just seems off. I noticed that Bowden at The Athletic ranked Vlad as one of the surprise players that could be traded. I just laughed at first because the Front Office would be crucified for doing that, but who knows...they have never been good at optics.

I, like JP, think that Vlad's just waiting to get the number he wants, and is OK with going to free agency for that number.

I'd read exactly _nothing_ into what Bowden says, though; like Bob Nightengale, if Bowden writes a thing, believe the _opposite_.

I'd lean towards B on this one. I think Vlad's just supremely confident in his abilities, and the longer you wait, typically the more you get. Just look at Judge. The dude raked an extra $100 million plus from the Yanks by stepping out there, taking on a bit of risk, and having a historic year. I bet Vlad believes he can do the same, and I believe he can too.
