By all means, use the platform that's best for you.

I love your writing regardless of platform. Where you go, I will follow.

I'd rather not give my money to promoting alt-right views so absolutely, change platforms. I've followed you through lots of iterations in the past, what's one more?

$380 million to host the world cup? Good God! How is that possible!? Forget the why, HOW!?

Follow the money Stoets. I don't care if I re-up and you move a month later. Your content is probably the most cost-effective premium content out there for an avid Jays fan. Keep up the solid work. I don't even care if the new site has chat features, the column is what we come for.

I'd follow you to Ghost. Get paid.

I would absolutely support you moving to any platform where you get more of the money I give you and the people who support Nazis get less of it.

Do what is best for you in terms of hosting your stuff. Like, how many websites have you gone through in the last X years?

Hey Andrew. I'll follow you to whichever platform you move to. I subscribe to Cup of Coffee and Craig C recently moved to BeeHive to escape the Substack right wing extremists. I'm in full support of such a move, there are no sidelines to sit on in times like these.

Indeed. I assure appreciate the Shapiro/Atkins speaks segments. Good analysis and fun to read the no bullshit uncensored translation and context.

Re: changing platforms - sure, whatever works. I like what you're doing, the format, etc. and feel like it's good value. Keep up the good work - the platform is just a delivery mechanism. I'll follow you over, if you do change.

Probably need to budget in losing some subscribers just due to friction, though, unless there's some mechanism to transfer the subscriptions transparently (which seems unlikely).

I'd be delighted to see you get off Substack given the loathsome people they choose to do business with. I understand as a (relatively) small-scale operation you need to do what gives you the best chance to succeed rather than standing on principle, but if there's another platform that you think would work for you I'd be most pleased to see you make the move.

FWIW my feeling on the Jays' start is that they're hanging in there with basically none of their core offensive players hitting very little. If that goes on all season obviously they're fucked, but if the more likely outcome happens and at least some of those guys start to hit, they should still be ok.

(I know we want better than ok.)

FWIW, full support to moving platforms if it means more of the money I wanted to put in your pocket actually makes it there.

I don't mean to be a downer and overly negative, but I think Tiedeman is a Tommy John surgery (or other) waiting to happen. It seems like a rite of passage for young hard throwing pitchers and I remember Keith Law flagging his delivery years ago. The injury last year was a red flag and he's had such a weird innings progression so far. Obviously I hope I'm wrong.

Nick's article on home runs was excellent and a little frightening to be honest. In the words of our favourite baseball savant Gibby 'Homers win, that's the bottom line' (caveats apply of course!). I sometimes wonder if we should have signed Teoscar to a long term contract rather than trading him....for a reliever. For all his warts, he was still a slugger.

Enjoyed this edition of stray thoughts. As for moving to a different platform, wherever you go - I will follow. I'm all for you making more income for your fine work. If you had a virtual tip jar....

Interesting Shapiro comments, but when he talks about losing money on player payroll, I don't think he's referring to taking on debt. I'm assuming that any losses incurred by the jays are offset by revenues elsewhere in Rogers (Sportsnet, other Rogers media, wireless, etc.)

The "Magic Accounting" is mainly the fact that Rogers owns both Sportsnet and the Blue Jays. So Sportsnet would transfer money to the Blue Jays for the rights to broadcast the games. It's an expense for Sportsnet and a Revenue for the team, but since Rogers owns both, it's like taking money from the left pocket and putting into the right pocket.
