On Brandon Belt, quiet crowds, Jordan Romano, Malachi Moore, playoff scenarios, (playoff) broadcast news, home splits, Rob Manfred, Rowdy Tellez, Michael King and more!
I didn't watch the game so don't know just how quiet the fans were. There's some funky stuff going on there though with the collective fan psyche - perhaps they are just scared? Fatalistic? Scared of another sweep or blowing a 97% chance to make the playoffs? And when our offence goes quiet that just feeds the sense of impending doom.
Awesome to hear about your subscriber numbers. I've been a fan of yours since 2007-ish when my former roommate told me about Drunk Jays Fans.
The Belt Wants Noise thing is a little odd to me. I've been to a number of games this year and haven't noticed the dome being particularly quiet. I also attended a game in NYC and a game in Atlanta this year, and didn't notice the dome to be quieter than those places (if anything the jays games I've been to have been louder). Unless Belt is basing this entirely on last night's game? It seems fairly rationale for a crowd to be somewhat subdued when the home team gets 3 hits? I dunno...maybe Belt has done some research on Dave Winfield and figures this is way to cement himself as a Blue Jays legend or something :).
Stray Thoughts... - We love pitching and defence!
Congratulations on 4,000!! Keep that growth going. And the stray thoughts. Love every one of them.
Happy to be a paid subscriber Stoeten. Keep up the great work
