Dire numbers indeed. You are also right about the pitching. If our offence is going to be similar (or worse) than last year, then we absolutely need our pitching to be as good, if not better, and just as healthy as last year. There's almost no room for error on that front.
On the seating/corporate front....did you notice the huge amount of empty seats behind home plate i the 9th inning? Not a great look.
Yes and did you hear Shapiro refer that bunch down front as the "die hard fans"? I think the real die hard fans, many of whom sit in the cheap seats or at least cheaper seats, would prefer that owners and management spend more on the improving the team and less on the "extras".
Yes and did you hear Shapiro call that bunch the "die hard fans".? What planet is he living on? It does seem some of the big bucks went to the stadium, not the team as the real die hard fans would very much like to see even if we cannot afford $1100 to sit down front.
I remember after the 'new' Yankee Stadium opened that there were similar complaints about empty seats in the expensive corporate seats behind home plate being a bad look. I recently read that the Blue Jays modelled the section behind home plate after the Yankee model....oops! It's going to look even worse during mid-week games against teams of lesser-draw power. It'll be half-empty (if not more) from the start of games.
