On a tough end to a tough trip, Belt's breakout, Varsho's leg kick, Bassitt, Berríos, Kikuchi's change, Manoah's slider, Bo's boner, Gausman's gem, the road ahead, and more!
If Manoah can't find it this year, let's hope that Ryu comes back healthy and effective eh?
One thing that stood out for me in the first Philadelphia game was seeing Varsho and Belt both pinch hit for with the bases loaded by Springer and Jansen. Our two hottest hitters and walk machines replaced with two who are struggling - and one who was sick. Wasn't impressed.
Yeah, those were some of the calls by Schneider I was referring to, and they were incredibly sensible ones. Belt should never face a lefty in that situation — he’s 0-for-9 with 5 Ks against them and with few exeptions since 2016 his track record says he just can’t hit them. Varsho, who resorts to trying to bunt for hits because against LHP because of his struggles in the split, makes total sense to being lifted there too.
(I didn’t like beining Mayza in knowing he’d have to face Castellanos though.)
As for Manoah, it’s May 11th. It’s been bad so far but let’s maybe not go off the deep end just yet.
When Springer's hitting first
And his pants begin to burst
That's diarrhea, diarrhea
When Springer pinch hits
but his pants are filled with shit
That's diarrhea, diarrhea
When Springer's on the bench
And his butthole starts to clench
That's diarrhea, diarrhea
When Springer's in a slump
because he's always taking dumps
That's diarrhea, diarrhea
Classic

Wow. Hard to argue against those stats. Shame it didn't work out. Nick's article on Springer today was worrisome...
