Your description of Bostonian fans, ….. “gold Jerry, just gold!”

See, I don't agree at all with the notion that signing Soto means Vlad is gone, or even Bo for that matter. If they're willing to spend the kajillion on Soto, this signals to me we're in a brave new world in which Rogers is spending at unprecedented levels for this franchise. You don't have to squint to see what another ALCS or World Series run does to the market here: It goes absolutely bonkers and makes a ton of money. So to those who are peddling this Soto vs Vlad narrative can 'frig off Ricky.

So IF we sign Soto do we also extend Vlad? If not, what’s the point?

As Tabby said, "Shit you have to."

Rosenthal suggested that signing Soto would nearly guarantee that Vlad is gone, which, to me, makes no sense.

From the Athletic:

"Signing Soto, on the other hand, almost certainly would ensure Guerrero’s departure after next season, unless the Jays are willing to carry two monster contracts."

I don’t know if it would guarantee that Vlad leaves—these guys constantly just make stuff up. But Soto is the better player, so that’s why they’d choose him.

Sure, if you have to pick one. No doubt. I just wonder if they can attract him to be the lone star on a shitty rebuilding team a year from now. (Acknowledging that he could just choose the highest bidder, and that it could be the Jays.) Let's hope Kenny Ken is just throwing up straw to the wind.

I'll believe Soto's coming here when the Leafs win the Cup.
